On The Road to Aspen, June 1 2006

How great it was to be back in Aspen again after so many years, and the timing couldn’t be better since it turned out to be an incredibly beautiful time of year.  Even after all my years of traveling, I still find it absolutely amazing that I could have an early dinner in Ft. Lauderdale and them board an 5:20pm flight and arrive in Aspen by 9:22pm local time, get a full night’s sleep, presentn from 8:30am - 3pm, then be back on a flight and home not long after midnight, 31 hours total.   Here is a pic of the view from my room when I woke up:

Of course my good friend Bill Tomcich, President of StayAsepnSnowmass and in my mind the future Mayor of Aspen, had more than a little to do with this, from convincing United/Mesa to upgrade its prop-plane service to regional jets, not to mention personally moving me out of my middle seat to the aisle for the outbound flights.

It was great to finally stay personally at the Aspen Square Hotel, which I’ve heard so much about for so many years and which has been such a huge supporter of my old company HSA International.  Warren Klug continues to evolve his legend as one of the top hoteliers in the field as he still runs one of the best overall hotels in Aspen and Snowmass which is saying a lot since there are so many great ones.

But for me the most rewarding part was the timing of this conference, which coincidentally worked out to be the day of the launch of my new company – Kennedy Training Network.  To be back in front of this group of agents, several of which participated in my first program in Aspen in 1992, was extremely rewarding.  Thanks especially to Pam, Mary, and Dana for their enthusiastic participation and for their sustained interest after having been through at least 5 classes with me personally probably another 3 or 4 with my former trainers when I co-owned HSA International. Here's a picture of me with some of the attendees from StayAspenSnowmass Central Reservations and the Aspen Square Hotel from left to right: Michelle, Trish, Crystal, Pam, Dana, Alejandro,Rebecca, Mary, and Jack.

Thanks Doug, I just talked to Christal
at the Square and neither of us
receive a email follow up form Big
bear. There is always a change it
went to spam. But I sure hope all my
emails are not going to spam.
I think you should put together a program on email and how key words will
trigger a spam filter. Like discount
    sale and so on.

Put together a sample email response that reads well but is not full of the
key words spam filter pick up on.

    It is hard.

I love that you have spell check on this.

      Hey Mary.

How great to hear from you!  Interesting that you never got the follow-up email either eh?  Not sure if you used a personal e-mail address or work, but if personal I would guess it probably didn't go to spam, especially since my usual non-response rate is about 35%.

Thanks for visiting my blog. You were my first comment!  See you in November if not sooner.

      Hey Warren!

How great of you to stop by On The Road and leave your note.  Indeed, I'll be seeing you again this November if not sooner.  Keep up the great work!  If I was in charge of stars and diamonds your hotel would have 5 of each for sure!

      Stay the course!

    Doug,

Just wanted to let you know that it might have been a matter of coincidence, or perhaps a function of some other factors working in our favor. But what is undeniable is the fact that the three of the four weeks following your visit and sales training seminar with our staff were all time new sales records for our organization! Thanks again for your help, and we look forward to welcoming you back in November!
